Background check question

Hello, I made my first ever firearm purchase on Friday 8/16 at 2:00 PM . So seemingly naturally, I didn't get a call until yesterday, Wednesday 8/21 that I won't be able to go pick it up until 8/31. That is an entire 15 days waiting. Nothing I could do about it of course, I understand that weekends don't count. And the "10th day" will be Saturday the 31st. Anywho, that is my vent there.

But my actual question is now that I have a background check that I obviously passed, I heard something about 30 days. Is it 30 days from the 16th? Or 30 days from when he called me yesterday on the 21st? Does that mean that I can go and buy another firearm with this valid background check willy-nilly and walk out of the store with it that day for the next 30 days? And does that background check work at any other gun shop in the state of Washington or Clark county perhaps? Or do I actually have to wait until I pick up the pistol on Saturday the 31st? Or is a background check only good for that one purchase? Thank you guys for all your knowledge!

Not sure about WA, but I was doing many BG checks a month with multiple firearms on each form, for nearly two years. If anybody was creepy, it would have been me. One time I had about 6 bg checks all approved simultaneously. I guess new guy at OSP didn't realize that is a no-no.

Each purchase will require a BGC
However...if you were to buy say a rifle and a shotgun on the same day from the same FFL...
Then both the rifle and shotgun could be done on the same form...and the BGC check would count for both firearms.

Firearm laws , regulations , restrictions and the like are often written by those who really don't know or understand firearms...
As well as being "clear as mud" about the subject matter.
Many , if not most or one could argue all of them ...are about as useful as a football bat ..but I digress....

Like if you've passed a background check, you're probably going to be good to make another purchase with that background check for the next 30 days. I'm 50 years old and would have always passed this background check and will into the future. But it is what it is. And I definitely agree. There is so much information that I am trying to digest. Which is why I'm very thankful to have this forum!

There's nothing at all inherently suspicious or weird about two purchases within 60 days and I would think many medium and higher volume shops probably see it all the time.

The closest issue to that I can think of is if you purchase 2+ handguns from the same shop within 5 days, that shop must submit a form reporting that to the ATF. It's not inherently illegal but there does exist a reporting requirement. What gets done about that report? From what I gather, usually nothing but it's not unheard of (although rare) for the ATF to come to one's door to ask questions about those purchases. I would think they prioritize the more "seemingly-suspicious" instances though. For example if you purchase a Webley revolver and a Nambu pistol together, they will likely infer you're a collector. If you purchase 5 brand-new Glock 19's at once, they might find that a lot more interesting.

LOL! That's true. I have been reading tons of posts here, watching YouTube. Yes! For fun and taking everything with a grain of salt. I see it more as an information dump. With obviously peoples opinions or sponsors. But I really do just listen to the information and understand that I need to do my own research on what they are presenting. Best thing I can do is get my pistol in my hand and go shoot it. I want to rent other firearms at the range and choose my number two which may actually turn out to be my number one! Then, depending on what happens in November, make purchases next year. And thank you so much for the welcome!

Oh, that is really good information! Thank you. I have already passed that five day mark. So I'm good there. And I do not want any trouble or unexpected visits. But I suspect I am never gonna send up red flags unless things change drastically after November. Let's hope not!

At one point you could meet in a parking lot and swap or buy guns.

After that you could use your concealed carry license to bypass any background checks and walk out of the ffl 5 min later.

Now your SOL until the ffl get approval and very very few are going to stick their neck out and test that 10 day law.

These days it is best to call ahead as many have different interpretations and as I found out, at one point my preferred FFL was only doing transfers with a set appointment vs the walk in they had always done.

Good luck and don't worry about flags. Folks with way more money to invest buy multiple firearms at once all the time.

Wait, I have a concealed carry license. Was I supposed to tell them that? I got that like 6 months ago before I even took the classes. Was THAT my valid background check? Or am I misunderstanding?

In Washington...it no longer matters if you have CCL for the BGC...at one it did and was helpful...now not so much.
