Well, not exactly an attack but apparently one jumped up and put it's paw on the side window of one of my vehicles to look in.

The ground was damp from a little rain and it had pine pollen stuck on it's paws!

If say a guy were to be sitting in the car and that cat jumped up to say hello, that would make me afraid for my life so I would probably shoot it thru the window cuz I ain't waiting for it to get inside.

Is that a good shoot?

AND

Do I get to keep the skin?

Asking for a friend…

I suspect if your windows were closed you would not have had to have been 'afraid for your life'....

Personally I see them as a noble creature HOWEVER If they are causing a problem, killing commercial food animals or other threat well then yes - then they need to be removed - not unlike any other problem animal - but under normal circumstances I don't see them as HUGE problem.

In Oregon you would not be able to retain the animal on a human health and safety shoot. Good shoot? Some of the odfw tree huggers would probably want you cited . SSS

Worst I get at my place are coyotes but I'm not to worried about them. I wouldn't let my dog engage with one but I carry mace and stuff on walks - especially pre dawn as tha is when they tend to be off the refuge and in the neighborhoods

I have bears, cougars and coyotes here.

But they usually stay away from the houses - mostly due to the neighborhood dogs. The pic above was taken on the lower part of a neighbor's property where a creek runs thru.

OTOH, if I see my motion lights around the property turn on at night, I often choose my Shockwave to accompany me if I go outside to check on stuff. Usually it is brush near the light sensor that sets it off when it is windy, but other times it is probably a racoon/porcupine or something like that. Just the same, the last thing I want to do is stumble upon a nosy bear or cougar when it is dark and they feel cornered/threatened. I have seen bear scat within 50 yards of my house.
