Interesting stuff.

We've seen era film of GI's breaking the stocks of Mauser rifles against walls to quickly demil them.

Once the Ukraine war is over, some time in the future it is hoped, there will be a big clean-up there. With emphasis on UXB stuff that many post-war civilians will be exposed to.

Decades ago, I knew an old sergeant who in WW2 worked in a graves registration unit. Some of the clothing retrieved from dead soldiers was recycled and reissued. One of his jobs was to go through the pockets of clothing taken from dead US and German soldiers. He still possessed a jar full of some of the more interesting personal items found in the pockets of corpses' clothing.

One of the things I truly hated to do...was to look though the enemy dead for items to be turned over to Intelligence.
I understand the reason why...it just was going though the pockets of a man I killed....

I did see lots of interesting firearms from my 4 combat deployments...lots of stuff from WWII was still in use for a long time after the war.
