An aerosol can of electronics parts cleaner works really well.
Leaves everything clean and dry, then just a bit of oil where you want.

Thanks for the feedback. You all act different when you are talking about knives than guns. I didn't know I was going to get into this so much. The shaping thing - making it your own is fun.
