How to get in the crevasses to clean dirt? sanding block, sandpaper glued to a pencil tip? How else? That walnut smelled good sanding. Brass is nice matte. Don't we all enjoy a classic.

Thanks for the feedback. You all act different when you are talking about knives than guns. I didn't know I was going to get into this so much. The shaping thing - making it your own is fun.

Much more fun talking about optics and bolt types than when you all talk about knives. One joker wants to start I could just sharpen a butter knife on a cinder block.

Ballistol is good imo, as is Eezox. Both also help prevent rust. Both are stinky.

For pure lube (not cleaner, not preservative) I haven't found anything yet that beats ceratec (boron nitride nanoparticles in carrier oil).

I haven't tried any of the very expensive boron nitride + PTFE gun lubes from Europe but they may be slightly better. Have tried tungsten disulfide formulations and have not been impressed with them over boron nitride.

Ceratec big bottle will last ages and ages cuz you only need a very small amount on gun or knife friction surfaces. Shake well to make sure max BN is in suspension.
