My wife got her first pistol for Christmas, Glock 43X, and is interested in getting her concealed carry license sometime in the next year.

I think a women's only, or woman taught class would be beneficial for her. She knows the basics of firearms, coming mostly from rifle deer hunting. A class with a range portion would be great.

Anyone know of a class or place in the Willamette Valley (or near) that would fit the bill?

Thanks in advance

Oregon CHL is a two hour course that covers gun safety and a little bit on Oregon law. A range course isn't included unless you purchase a different package. Some states require a range course in addition to the legal side, Oregon doesn't.

Have her take the class online (I don't think Oregon got rid of that yet; trust but verify), and send her to a women's pistol class.

It's sad, I can carry a gun concealed in Oregon, but if I want to buy a new gun with the permit scheme in a few months, I have to prove I'm safe with it my performing in front of an instructor.

they have a womens only class, with an amazing woman instructor.

If you travel, think about a Utah license ahead of time. Call any sheriff dept. in Utah, and they will send you a list of Utah certified instructors holding class in Oregon, While the license isn't recognized in Oregon, the class contains the elements of Oregon requirements , while providing for the Utah license. Sorta two birds with one stone. Some instructors had available, when I took mine, range time, but is an option not a license requirement. (at lease it wasn't when I took mine)
I'm assuming the class certificate would be good for at least a year should you not want the extra effort of process or money at this time. The class I chose, mainly for locality, and thought they did a good job, both the instructor and his wife were certified.
(Mine did, but some instructors may or may not have dual license classes, should make it clear before signing up).)

She can also join Armed Women of America. There is a chapter in Salem and one in Albany. They meet once a month, great instruction and great women. Look up ArmedWomen.org

Where are these based out of?

My daughter took several classes in the all women's group that Lethal Lovebirds does in Eugene and had a really positive experience. He does CHL too. Really nice guy.

while I don't have any experience with all women's classes: the legal requirement for a certificate can be fulfilled with a 15$ minimal course from or-chl.com
he recommends taking other material for actual instruction and has whole sections on the website dedicated to this. unfortunately mostly out of date but a good place to start for the chl requirements.
