First and foremost I hope that I'd never do ever have to use my firearm and felt defense and odds are I never will but it never occurred to me that I probably would end up being how I would justify using whatever particular ammo I choose.

Iv'e had to use mine twice. Both times without firing a shot. Both times the police didn't charge me with anything and the bad guy got arrested, after the fact.

Regarding the LCP II by Ruger in 22LR, I know of no 22LR ammo I would use in self-defense given a choice.

There is a type of 22lr ammo I would and have carried in times where I had to carry a 22lr platform.

That Ammo being Aguila Interceptor FMJ.

FMJ as they load better and JHP in 22lr does not really expand much anyways...

Found the Interceptors, rated 1470fps with a 40gr bullet... Testing ammo in a Mark 4 suppressed, the Interceptors still went supersonic...

Keltec P17, let a friend shoot a mag of basic High Velocity 22lr, felt like a normal 22lr... gave him a mag loaded with Interceptors, he was not prepared for the difference it recoil, it was quite a noticeable power difference...

For that reason, it is my preferred ammo type if I have to carry a .22lr cartridge.

In argument against that point, why are the police using civilian grade (off the shelf) ammo..

Because this is America "military grade" sucks in comparison.

Any lawyer is free to make any assertion he or she desires. Whether or not the judge or jury will take it into account is another thing. Personally, I'm going to do whatever is necessary to minimize a threat against myself or my loved ones. If there is ammunition that has been proven to better minimize a threat, then that's what I would choose. Everyone is free to make their own choice.

"It would be the LCP 2 in .380, but for me, it's really just a size thing with that.

380 LCP II was discontinued due to the demand and features of the LCP Max. (Nov 2023).

The current LCP II is a 22LR. Small size makes for a handy backup, but personally I'd be reluctant to carry a 380 as a primary defense gun. But it is superior to hand-to-hand combat or a big stick.

There are several sources for M&P 40 S&W Police Trade-ins for less $$ than the LCP Max. Like $250 +/-. or Glock 17's if 9mm is more your style at about $350. At Grab-A-Gun and Palmetto State Armory for example.

The only thing I could find of Fish's case was that the prosecutor talked about the caliber (10mm), not the ammo type, and that they convicted him for 2nd degree murder based on the events of that day (State claimed dead guy tried to get dogs and claimed Fish trigger happy basically).

Fish was freed upon appeal and not retired under new Arizona self defense law that retroactively applied to his case

The FBI use to issue the S&W 1076 in 10mm, but it proved to much for modern girlie men and women, so they downloaded it and it evolved into .40 S&W. Sounds like someone had a loser defense attorney.
