Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
Hunting Montana in November. Plan to do load development the next couple weekends for my AR-10. Have several pounds of CFE223 so rather use that, then go out and buy Varget.
Both will work depending on bullet weights but overall both should work just fine.
Only difference is CFE is better for Mono, alloy, leadfree and fmj bullets as it's designed to reduce the amount of copper left on the barrel after firing.
I would choose varget for the better temperature stability, if you work up a load with cfe223 when it's a hot day it will not behave the same in the winter
Cfe223 is temperature sensitive
You tube has some good videos on cfe223 showing how a load that worked well in the summer and would not cycle the same gun in the winter
