Gun Owners Least Likely Criminals, Report Finds

one of the things that may be concerning with the continuing growth of CCW in America is CHL holders commiting crimes, the antis will use that as an excuse to prohohibit "shall issue". Example, the Orlando nightclub shooter

"We find that permit holders are convicted of misdemeanors and felonies at less than a sixth the rate for police officers," the report says. "Among police, firearms violations occur at a rate of 16.5 per 100,000 officers. Among permit holders in Florida and Texas, the rate is only 2.4 per 100,000.10. That is just one-seventh of the rate for police officers."

funny how the anti-gun crowd would not comment on the report...

they will say that "correlation does not equal causation" and then recall some rare example (like the Orlando shooter) of a CHL person committing a crime as a reason people are not "qualified" to carry guns in public....

dont mean to be negative, but have gone down that debate a few times.

what stood out to me in this article was the compariso to police officers that comitted firearm crimes...

We have more too loose then the average citizen...

And we are all aware we "the good guys" are the ones playing by the rules. It's the filed off serial number carriers that are the issues more often then not.

How did you get that to happen, just out of curiosity if your don't mind sharing?

In Arizona 5 years after my time was done I was eligible to have my rights restored. The feds kept denying me when I tried to buy another gun, even though my paperwork was in order. I went ahead and took another CCW class and the Department of Public Safety issued me a second CCW card, which allows me to buy a gun, without nics/fbi approval.

They are also 'more law abiding' because there is a larger pool of which to draw statistics.

I would have suspected as much.

So....assuming that they (CCW holders/carriers) are more, law abiding. Would you also expect them to pay their bills on time and probably be more trustworthy? I'd probably assume as much.

So.....where does this bring/take us?

OK...so, you know how the Govt wants everyone buying a firearm to get a background check.

Well, what if I could use that background check as a basis to decide who I choose to do business with? Humm.....

Before I sign a contract with a contractor for that extension on my house, I'll ask to see not only a Contractor's Lic but also a CCW?

Before I lease or rent out my home to someone, I'll also ask for a CCW?

Before I buy/sell a ______ on Craig's List I'll ask the other person about their CCW status?

Hey.....that is why I believe that IF the Govt wants a background check every time (mind you that I don't like Universal Background Checks) that I do a firearms transfer, then it should be available to everyone and it should be for free. I'll use the system to run checks. Think of it as, the Govt helping us taxpayers to combat possible fraud. If we must have it.......well, that expensive system should be put to good use, don't you think?

Wait a minuet....it's not gonna happen because, the Govt doesn't really care that I get scammed. The Govt is only interested that I'll pay $10 (or more in some cases) to an FFL to transfer a firearm. Never mind that I already own several firearms or that I have a CCW. Yup....spreading the wealth to the FFLs certainly got a few of them on board with UBCs.

FBHO.
FHRC.
