    1. going away present for ex....

    3. Open carry gun for surrendering when the cops stop you.
    4. Out Saturday night special a Saturday Night Special.

Please, compadres, feel free to add to the list.

Anyone know what safety problem these pistols have that's causing this recall?

The initial recall was for a drop safety issue, I recall hearing that it had to do with tolerances inside of the frame. There were a couple of accounts of them going off when dropped on a hard surface.

The second recall affected a small batch of the compact models only which was an improper heat treating that could cause the guns to go kaboom. This was uncovered by an incident in Pakistan of one of them going kaboom and injuring the shooter.

For this latest all encompassing recall without replacement option, no reason has been given yet. My best guess is that following another kaboom in Pakistan about a month ago (no indication as to whether it was in the already identified batch or if ammo is suspected, or anything for that matter), they decided to play it safe and perhaps try to save some face by taking the afflicted model completely out of circulation.
