It wouldn't be the only .308 upper with a carry handle, DPMS makes one. I would guess they get the forging from the same place and finish it on their end. Really the charging handle coming out of the rear when you charge it is the part that bothers me most. Guess one would have to cut the charging handle on their own, though without seeing how it locks up I can't say if that's a good idea or not.
