Sorting .223/.556 brass, I keep finding these pieces that have this imprint on the bottom of the cartridge. Is this from the bolt or from the factory? I don't think I will reload these.

I was gonna go with "performance indicator stamp". If you ever wondered about (or doubted) the guys that claim "half inch groups all day", this is the ammo they use.

There's definitely marks on the cases from pressure on the bolt, im not sure that it matters, i have reloaded lots that looked like this, and have never had a case fail, not sure if its dangerous, just my experience with it.

I don't see any over-pressure marks (signs) on the OP's case.

The only crimped primers I have seen were ring crimps, and I found them too much of a PITA to deal with... tired of breaking decap pins.

I started using the Frankfort Arsenal hand depriming tool. That thing is a beast, removes crimped primers with ease.

Thx for the info... unfortunately for me, bad arthur would keep me from using that... i hand prime, but doing so doesn't require much effort. :(
