Looking to see what fixed blades you all run as part of your daily carry. This fixed blade will only be used defensively. My criteria is it must be around a 3" blade, carried outside the waistband appendix and the handle must be at a horizontal or a downward angle. I am leaning towards a ShivWorks Clinch Pick but wanted to see if I maybe overlooked a better option.

In the past I have carried -

Headhunters Rat
Amtac Northman
Amtac Minuteman
Toor Serpent
Toor Anaconda
Toor Viper
Toor Pikal
Toor Jank Shank
Rainier Fastpak

None of these have worked for my intended purposes. Either they have been uncomfortable, printed in an extreme manner or had to be drawn in an upward motion which I am trying to avoid.

Any input is appreciated. My budget is around $200-$400. Thanks.

I've found folders to be more convenient unless I'm in the woods.

I can get a folder out in just about the same amount of time as a fixed blad and no one bats an eye at a folders clip sticking out if your pocket.

All of my fixed blades are 5-6" or more. I do have an Esee 3 but it's more of a woods knife then a defensive blade.

Good luck!

I carry a folder too. Fixed blade would be concealed. People definitely give you a weird look when you pull a fixed blade for utilitarian purposes. I used to carry a fixed blade in my pocket for everyday tasks but went back to a folder simply for that reason.

Go for a 1" longer blade, get a Benchmade Adamas 375 and put a set of "TPgrips" on it.
Noe you've got a real "tool" that in a tight spot will put to shame all "wannabee" knives with
their funny curved handles and thin little low-strength blades.
Most of the "fashionable" smaller fixed blades are little more than glorified kitchen paring knives.

Appreciate the opinion. Not looking to go that big. Especially with the method I will be carrying it in. If I was carrying that size of a knife I would have just kept my Amtac Minuteman.

Start looking at sharpfinger style knives.

Hell's Angels approved for bar fights!

The only fixed blade I regularly carry, the ESEE Izula II. Sharpens easily, can be used as a neck knife or clipped horizontally, vertically or upsidedown to the belt...

Used to carry one of these but nowadays I only carry a folder for utility. It fits pretty much all your needs/criteria with the provided sheath mount/clip adjustable placement for desired draw.

I see you've made several "toor" decisions in your life.....

I like my HK auto knife, I never use it so it is always so sharp it will cut your eye if you look at it really hard, the way it should be if its to be a life saver. I also carry a small pocket multiblade I use for the utility stuff.
A couple of the folks I've worked with that carry fixed the blades wouldn't cut a tender steak. seems worthless to me.
Plus I have a gun, spare mag, light, wallet, keys. Any more and I'll need suspenders.

I always carry a small fixed blade horizontal, weak(left) side, handle forward. Bob Dozier Arkansas Made knives work really well for me. His kydex sheaths are made to be carried this way and have no seperated belt clip. The clip is part of the sheath, goes on/off the belt easily without having to undo the belt, and the knife will not come out of the sheath unless you push down with your thumb. I currently carry a model called the Bodyguard, about a 3 1/2" blade, $270-295. I have had luck finding them in stock at A.G Russell Knives or Arizona Custom Knives.
