Before I make my next fixed blade purchase..

This is how I carry my rat horizontally support side. I use the spare sheath it came with. I noticed Tenicor sells an angled rat sheath that you could flip upside down to get the downward angle you are considering. I've also seen 45 deg angled sheaths before but not sure where to buy them. But this is a really fast draw. This wasn't my idea. I got this idea from Bill at one of his Amtac classes a long time ago and stuck with it ever since. Before that I carried Craig Douglas Shivworks clinch pick and ran it through several of his classes but I didn't like it because it stuck out too much and wasn't as concealable. Seems like the clinchpick was just designed to get someone off the top of you while pulling guard or away from you while in the clinch. I like the rat set up like this better because it also adds another aspect of an offensive face stabber that is an extremely fast draw. And like Craig says when drawing on each other it's a drag race so you want to be faster than the other guy. I have also been carrying Bills Amtac Northman for awhile too.

Love that blade. I actually just sold it. I had the Tenicor sheath as well. The handle was just a little too long for me. It printed way more than I preferred. Awesome blade though.

I see you run Tenicor holsters as well. I like it. Best holsters on the market.

I like my HK auto knife, I never use it so it is always so sharp it will cut your eye if you look at it really hard, the way it should be if its to be a life saver. I also carry a small pocket multiblade I use for the utility stuff.
A couple of the folks I've worked with that carry fixed the blades wouldn't cut a tender steak. seems worthless to me.
Plus I have a gun, spare mag, light, wallet, keys. Any more and I'll need suspenders.

I also carry a gun, spare mag, light, folder and tourniquet. Along with my fixed blade.

Na. lol. I carry the exact same way he does. It's the most comfortable, most concealable and fastest way to carry.

He's a man of good taste. Glock, Tenicor and headhunter blades and a Amtac blade in the pocket. That's over 1K in blades alone. I approve. Haha.

I used to carry this as a EDC....then like a fool traded it off....sigh.
I had the Carbon V non-serrated version...excellent knife and easy to carry and draw.

It's hard trying to find a good defensive blade to carry daily, while there are lots of great knives out there, most are lacking when it comes to the sheath, even fewer have training blade options. I curious to see what you end up getting!

I'll definitely post what I end up choosing. I've had 2 Northman's and a minuteman. Their sheaths are definitely not an afterthought. They are a pretty penny. I like the look of the tyrant. I just don't wanna drop $500 on a 2" blade. lol. I definitely prefer a horizontal carry for deployment over vertical. I don't think I'll get a clinch pick though but a blade along those lines.

I like i said before I just carry a Leatherman....has there been many people who have saved there lives or the lives of others with a tactical self defense knife? I've just never seen a need to carry one, but to each there own

My only reason for wanting one is as a fail safe. If I get pinned and my dominant hand can't access my firearm then my "other dominant" can use the blade to create space so I can get to my firearm. The likelihood of me needing a blade is probably the equivalent of me needing a pistol. Yet I carry both.

You're much more likely to use a tourniquet yet how many people carry one of those?

I don't think everyone needs to carry a fix blade but it definitely doesn't hurt to have multiple tools at your expense.

Love it! I also carry a TQ daily on my person. My mentality is if you're gunna carry something that can take a life you should also carry something that can save a life as well.

Do you carry a CAT or a SOF-T or a different style?

I carried a cat on my person when I was shooting for work on the daily. I heard horror stories about guys catching a ricochet....now it's in the pickup with the first aid kit

A good fixed blade even a smaller one can be quite versatile, I have used my Northman a time or two to baton some kindling and used the sheaths built in ferro rod to start a camp fire, when I had no other options. I have a number of Cat TQs, I recently heard about the snake staff systems every day TQ which seems pretty cool.

I wanna do the snake staff one but I am hesitant cause they haven't been approved. Or atleast they weren't last time I looked. I carry a SOF-T in my boot all day. Never even notice it's there.

I'm sure it's good to go. A lot of well respected guys run them. I just have a system that works and see no reason to change.

I've been considering a clinch pick as well, but I'm leaning towards the Tops California Cobra - $119 at Botach
