Ironically in many localities abroad they "regulate" (aka serialize) the pressure bearing elements of the firearm, under the assumption that the two parts are the bottleneck in small-arms production, and require specialized equipment and skills to create..

And to think they take our money to pay for this abuse, and yet some still like them for it...

I'm not sure if it's a twisted form of masochism or Stockholm syndrome but I for one would at least like a rose on my pillow when they get done with the abuse.

Thus always to tyrants

Ak47 has on receiver.
When i say "single receiver" im not talking about converting the ar15...
The AK is also a vastly different design than the AR. The AR has two receivers, only the lower is serialized. However, if this AR UPPPER becomes serialized it will mean that there'd be precedent for TWO serialized receivers for the AR. Both the upper and lower would have to go to a FFL.
Or was that a joke about not having to clean an ak
No, really an AK does have to be cleaned and lubed. Just much less. Actually, a bottle of automatic transmission fluid, a rag, and cleaning kit is all you need. Cleaning rod is a bonus that looks good.

I predicted many years ago that the BATF had made a big mistake they would regret when they serialized the lower receiver of the AR-15. I had always thought that the upper receiver was the part they would have and should have serialized leaving the lower receiver unregulated.

Thankfully they didn't, and hopefully it stays that way. It sure is nice to be able to easily buy and swap uppers to change the configuration to whatever you want without having to bow to the state/feds every time you make a purchase.

Exactly why this determination is being made.

Imagine how many stripped lowers have been sold in the last few panics. Those are all potential "children-killing ARs" and they can stop the vast majority of them from ever becoming useful by dropping a determination that the upper is now the registered piece, or is in addition to the lower.

Viola, they have thwarted an bubblegum load of AR lowers from being made into functional ARs at some later time.

2A community has been banking on this idea that ARs can hardly be regulated because the uppers and every part is so easy to get since they aren't controlled.

BATFE just said, "Gotcha, bubblegum. We can interpret the rules however we see fit, and re-interpret to move the goal posts when you find a way around us we don't like."

Reading a couple of things from various places online, I'm starting to get a feeling the .gov folks are getting scared. Like something is going to happen. Rumors spreading and conspiracy flowing that .gov does not like these inexpensive 50cal uppers being so readily available to be purchased. 50cal is supposedly watched closer, per conspiracies online, like that of class 3. They say all 50cal sales are actually documented, though FICs isn't supposed to do that right! They say that because these can slip under the radar, it is concerning to the .gov. So naturally, they need to be able to track these better right?

I love conspiracy theories!

Internet, never stop being you.
