Really? The last 6 years actually happened. Trump is doing what he can the right some of the massive waste that has occurred for generations. Not many people are built for that task, so he appointed someone to at least steer/guide a team in direction.

To say we know what the outcome will be at this time after all the garbage we rightly complain about...? Come on. This one of the most difficult task anyone has attempted. I have several family members that work in government. I don't want to see them financially hurt, but there has to be a start.
I don't think we use the same definition of 'waste' but yes, in general I do agree that how the government does things needs to be updated and streamlined to be more efficient and provide better services, but at this point the only thing that might change my opinion of Trump & Co's ability to make those changes will be the results, and much like my views on SCOTUS, I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it
As for your relatives, this must be an unnecessarily stressful time for them, and my heart goes out to them

Just once in my lifetime I'd like to see the billionaires asked to "sacrifice for the good of the country". We all do. Over and over and over again. In war, we go off and fight and maybe die and they sit back and collect the profits. I was raised as a conservative and I know we used to not trust the super-rich either, but whatever.

OH yah sure....

its the individual employees of the federal government that are wasteful.

Its certainly for sure NOT the individuals in CONGRESS.

Im Mean like really..... who sets the budgets after all?

Sheesh......

The lobbyists? 🤔 But at least we got a new EO's that makes life easier and less transparent for them

Unfun fact, Congress, the ones that are supposed to set and pass the budget, have only done so on time 4 times in the last 40 years and the last time was in 1996

But wait until you have to go down to the Social Security office and they tell you to come back for an appointment nine months off into the future. Or strip a few more air traffic controllers out of the work force. Or fire forest managers and workers and watch the blue tarps multiply. I could go on, but to run a country, you need employees.
You act like this already hasn't happened. sic; our existing experience with DMV, Social Security, grocery stores, Medical system, and can even lay some of it on the big increases forced on minimum wages for the rest of the business world. In fact, it has been going on for quite some time and went into warp speed when Covid became the poster child for oppression's and doing without customer service and the loss of many just because many didn't want to be genetically altered.

"but to run a country, you need employees"

Bodies only count if they are actually diligent, productive, and customer orientated.
I've worked 4 years for the Military, 8 years Multnomah County Schools, and a year for Washington county Services. I've seen the shameful waste of our tax dollars first hand from the mass of folks really doing nothing but with big pay and benefits.
Kudo's for those actually giving a good days work for their pay while the rest are bringing them down..

Hope we can get a shift in the US mindset. We deserve fair treatment for a days work. I've had a few contractors work on my house during the summer that sweated their ***** off. I tried to get one to stop and finish the next day. So, we have hard working and ethical people. Just not enough.

One problem in government work is a lack of standards. That and automation has reduced some jobs to literally standing around waiting to say, next. Yes, that's better than welfare but do we go back to paper pushing or drop headcount and let AI move forward?

Good point, and I for one still don't. All these billionaires are just flawed, messed up people like the rest of us. I personally don't trust any of them on either side. Odds are that some of them are decent people with good intentions, but even good people with good intentions often do screwy things when given too much power.

In reality I don't actually know any of them enough to form any kind of real trust. I can choose my side and base my trust on the voices and sources I listen to, and form my strong opinions based on faith in those sources (like we all do anyhow), but I really don't know enough firsthand to really know.

Besides that, whatever I think doesn't really mean much anyhow. "They" are going to do whatever they're going to do. All I can do is hope that the current chaos has better results than the former chaos. I don't have any high level of faith in that, but one can always hope. I feel like I might be getting cynical. Optimistically cynical, maybe?

I'm Very happy we have Qualified people willing to do what's needed that actually care about this country, and an administration that will attempt to keep the Ship from sinking. And that will do what's best for Americans. Deport all the cooks and criminals yeeha
And I just love hearing all the left winger lose their minds and fabricate a story to fit their Narrative. about poor me. My question is where you were the last 4 miserable years while Bidingdone was destroying the economy and giving away billions $$$ Please explain this to all of us.
Please continue to Cry and wine and fabricate we all look forward to the laughter

I think FREDBALL and couple of others are onto something....

Did any of you nay sayers concern yourselves with who was running the country during the last 4 years of the Senile Bedwetters' administration? Do you really think Biden was running things? You didn't seem to be too concerned. Aren't you insulted they forced you to accept the bimbo tramp Kamala Harris as your presidential candidate?....along with Tampax Tim???

The current government is no longer functional or reliable. FEMA did a wonderful job in East Palastine and with hurricane recovery in the Carolinas. The pervert Secretary of Transport did a great job staffing the air traffic control system. I heard this week that 40+-% of total welfare costs are spent on illegal aliens....and of course our borders were closed for the last 4 years.....and I am disgusted our leaders allowed Jewish students to be terrorized on their college campuses...and on and on.

I'm sick and tired of being ruled by incompetents and perverts.

It's refreshing to have functional adults with some history of successful decision making in the building.

I'm willing to give the new guys a fair chance.

Plenty of time to bubblegum and moan later.

IMHO...

I just don't remember Elon being elected, appointed or even really 'hired' to an administrative position in conformance with laws regarding being elected, appointed or hired
But you sort of saw it coming, didn't you? I mean, it's not like he was lurking in the shadows. In fact, there was one point where I thought he was gonna get the old "heave-ho" for stealing too much of the limelight from Trump.

For me, the jury is still out on Musk. But I'm fairly certain when the dust settles from all of his pro bono government work - he will NOT be any poorer.

Every administration does things that some question yet it seems like nobody on the left ever questions theirs... like who's been running the country the last few months or years and why is it not a big deal the WH and media lied about it?

I get the concern, but is Trump or Musk doing anything illegal here?

Waste in the government (civilian and military) is conducted by individuals and encouraged by management, suppliers and contractor's. It occurs in the private sector (they get a write off) as well! Downsize the monies available and then frugality may occur. Some expenditures have no immediate return but are just the cost of doing business, others are 'nice to have'. WHO has never "wasted"?
