I collect things the people who killed Germans used. The Nazis may be an important part of history, however the people who removed the true believers from this Earth are the ones to remember. Every artifact like that is tainted.

Exactly!

I have NEVER understood why so many take offense to collecting anything Nazi related.

Like you said it is a part of history and is no longer an accepted element of any 'modern' concepts or beliefs, well for most that is, however whatever of it remains today should not be equated with the historical era of WW2 'Hitler' 'Nazism'.

Here's some of my German stuff.
I dont collect anything "political", only combat related.
As my Grandpa so profoundly put it, "Hitler wasn't a very nice guy."

Speaking of Grandpa, here's what he left me from his service in India,1943-1945.
He picked up the homemade Phillipine knife while there (in the Phillipines) -he always SWORE its made out of an old leaf spring.

Here's my limited Japanese collection.
Flag missing the corners because it was folded in a pocket, and the blood soaked that spot..NCO sword and a 1700-1800s family short katana (or long wakizashi)

History is history....it does not care if you like it...or agree with it.
It is simply a record of what happened.

I can understand people's dislike of certain items or symbols . etc....
I can also understand the many reasons why people collect those same items.

Speaking only for myself....
I met and and became friends with many Germans when stationed in Germany....
Some of whom served during WWII...in The Heer , The Waffen SS and The Luftwaffe ...
A few were also in the SS.
Something to consider with SS....
It was a vast organization....with "fingers in many pies" so to speak....it damn near touched on every aspect of daily life at one time.
Many folks who were in the SS had nothing to do with the "Final Solution" or the like.

Please note that the above is not an excuse / apology or denial....
Nazism was bad to say the least...and its polices enslaved millions and caused the death of millions.
I hope we never see its like again.

Perfectly summarized,as usual.

My mother would NEVER have allowed any Nazi paraphernalia in our home. She had 3 brothers that served in Europe during the war. Dad was less boisterous about it just because he served in the South Pacific. Mom viewed book burning as the worst crime known to man, let alone the war crimes committed by some.

I too view Nazi collections strange. Like collecting the obituary's of young children.

Just my .02.

And that's why America rules.
We can have our own opinions and interests, unlike in Hitlers Germany,,Stalins USSR,or Hirohitos Japan.
Among many others.

I don't care how much 'history' there is, that crap should have been thrown in a crucible and cast into a memorial for the slain that had to endure that evil empire.

Turning them into 'collectables' for 'history' is a diversion.

Didnt mean to offend anyone with this stuff, was interested in ww2 history and also bought for an investment.I had a Jewish concentration camp star bought from a collector years ago.Wife didnt want it in the house so consigned it in my antique shop booth.A women came in and bought it for 200.00,said she was Jewish and that it should not be displayed there.Owner said it was just history. She said she was going to burn it,wonder if she ever did.Holocaust items are offensive to most and I understand but still history.I think now I should have kept it.Yeah let's burn it all and forget it ever happend right?
