Is there a mileage where no matter how well maintained you would walk away because things are just done and worn out or is it more dependent on how it was used and maintained?
I would say that could apply to any vehicle, depending how much you wanted to keep it and how you could justify spending more money for repairs. Some vehicles will hold together better for the high mileage than others. It also depends on your understanding of the vehicle in general and how you look at minor and major repairs. If you buy something cash or have it paid off, then the absence of a monthly car payment will offset even major repairs.

with anything it depends on maintenance. although, even with perfect maintenance these things are machines and machines can break.

the LE ones that say "certified" on the speedo gauge have different engine tuning, brakes and suspension over a factory tahoe.

they'll also do a buck 20 like its nothin ;)
My generation Tahoe (07-14) came in two flavors, 2WD PPV and 4WD SSV. The pursuit rated 2WD was governed to 144mph. The 4WD was not pursuit rated and governed to 122MPH. They are basically stock Tahoe's though with various fleet options, depending which agencies were buying them. If you buy one, try to get one made after 2011. The AFM design was modified to correct a problem prior to that. But as stated above, the AFM lifters were a pain in the butt. They can be disabled with a tune or mechanically with an AFM delete kit. Most folks just did a tune. The AFM was put in for political reasons and to get the CAFE rating lower. Other than that, the 5.3 is a fine engine. They are also E85 capable.
