ACSS LPVO - First or Second Focal Plane For Defensive Use?

Sounds like a great option. Which reticle did you get?

If I used crosshairs I wouldn't really care if it were FFP or SFP, but with a BDC type reticle I've found I prefer FFP.

The only option was for the guerrilla moa dot I got it on Brownells. The FOV, eyebox and eye relief are excellent. The eyebox is huge on 1x so is the FOV.

What distance are we defending ourself?

Seems like for practical self defense distances a lot of FFP reticles will be really small aiming points. Reticles with "donut of death" style reticles are popular because you don't have to be as precise at short distances to know you are on target.

With the ACSS specifically? FFP, at low end the partial circle becomes like a red dot.

Other reticles? Usually SFP works out better.

Having scored a deal on a pristine FFP ACSS I agree. I could live with SFP, but this setup to me is very intuitive.
