'South West Firearms' eh? Now Hooda thought it? Still, no point in me joining up there, only got one pal in Almogordo and I don't know that he's on that forum.

Funny how the same folks appear over there though.........Andy, Ura-Ki and so on.

They were recruited to be moderators, as well as a few of us "dirt bags" to help kick-start it until the local fauna discover and populate it.

I pi$$ed off one snowflake with my very first post (shocking, I know ).... it was my introduction post no less. :D

I remember seeing a YouTube video somewhere listing the Escort as one of the worst pocket pistols of all time.

This isn't the video but the opening comments are interesting:

Ruger LCP or Beretta Tomcat .32ACP

get my vote. These .25ACP Colts and Beretta are really small but I wouldn't trust my life with one. It might just make the bad guy angrier if you shot him with one.

"It might just make the bad guy angrier if you shot him with one."
I have heard this.. also heard of interesting parts of the anatomy sad bad guy might put it...

IMHO the virtual successor to the 1903/1907 Colt pocket pistol, was the Colt Gov. 380. It's been years since I compared them side by side, yet they both have a fond spot for me. In same genre, the original Colt Mustang 380 proved durable & reliable over decades.

Was not aware there was anybody still making a clone of the Baby Browning----but they are. Some
interesting versions, including some that are more art object than gun.

The PSP is a licensed manufacture of the BB. I like mine, made better by the fact that I argued the price down with the store-owner till his ears bled..

For me small had to also be light. I for a LONG time searched for a pistol I could pocket carry and always had trouble. Everything felt like I had a rock in my pocket all day. When Kel-Tec hit the P-32 I ended up with 2. Later a .380. The .380 is so close to the same as to be hard to tell the difference. Now shooing them is another story. The .32 is easy for almost anyone. The .380 is hard for many to shoot. The long pull which is a safety is the problem. I still will not let my one P-32 go even though I don't carry it any more. Did get rid of the .380 after trying the LCPII. It's slightly larger but still easy to pocket carry and FAR easier to shoot. Do of course have to keep the trigger covered if you want to keep a round chambered. I have a Beretta .32. Wife still carries it at times but it is larger and heavier. Makes shooting it much nicer. Carry not so much. If they would make the LCPII in .32 it would be ideal but doubt it will happen.

agree the magnificent 1903 Colt fits nearly anywhere. Too bad my geezer eyes made the sights virtually unusable except in my 'Tactical Braille' match:cool:
Yep, anymore the smaller pistols are "point and pray". Fortunately Ive done enuff practice/recreational shooting to know pretty much where my rounds are going at closer distances anyway. It ain't easy gettin old.
That said, the smallest cartridge I would care to defend life and wife would be the 9mmMak... not exactly a hide-out pistol.

So, I am looking for an ultra small automatic for deep concealment. That would be a very little pistol that fits into pocket carry in khaki pants. (Can't be any other carry like IWB, ankle, shoulder, etc.) On that note, does anyone know what is the smallest, dimension-wise, automatic produced in recent years. By recent, say, 1970s to the present. (I'm excluding the tiny autos made in the First World War and interwar periods because that vintage would be too dated.) Key points are:

  • Absolutely smallest available.
  • Something in the .22LR, .25 ACP, and .32 ACP range, with a strong preference for centerfire. (Not excluding the "weirder" calibers like .25 NAA and .32 NAA.)
  • Weight isn't a huge consideration, because anything that small can't weight much.
Thanks for any ideas.

P.S. I seem to recall one of my deceased family members used to carry a tiny Bernardelli, but I don't know much about them. PSA also makes a little one, but it isn't cheap, and I don't know much about them. I do already have a Keltec P-32, that with the small mag is very compact, and it runs great, but figured I'd look for something even more micro.
As others said above seecamp fits what u are asking for. Personally I would not go less than .380 because seecamp 32 acp is the same physical size so why give up that firepower (unless you just can't stand to shoot the .380).

Stepping up to 9mm the size goes up a lot. A sig p938 is roughly the same size as a ruger lcp .380 but weighs more. You can still carry this size in your pocket with a good pocket holster like Alabama holster. Sig p365 is very close size wise also and holds 10 rounds of 9mm. But seecamp .380 is in a whole other league size-wise. Supposedly it's not fun to shoot which is expected for that size.

North American arms has a larger sized seecamp-like pistol but build quality is supposedly inferior to seecamp. Plus it's larger than seecamp.

If u r interested in what a sig p938 looks like in jeans pocket with Alabama pocket holster here is a video (note that lcpII 380, sig p238, sig p365, springfield 911, etc are albout the same size so would be similar)

Wow only 2 shots and weighs 18.4 OZ? That's more than a p365, p938, and way more than an lcpII.

Seecamp 380 (6+1 rounds) is 1.25 inches shorter in length, same width (measured at the slide), and only .25" taller. It also weighs way less than this ideal conceal gun at 13.65 ounces fully loaded.

The LCP is good ,light ,380 , trustworthy . The baby browning is great if .25 acp is acceptable. the knock off Browning like a Bauer are good and stainless, I seen a couple on here in the past I would have liked to had .Most were in Washington of coarse .

I know you said semi-auto but for the sake of completeness someone should probably mention the 5-shot single action north american arms mini revolvers. 22lr and 22 magnum ones shown below. A 22short version also exists which is even smaller but the energy of that is so low I wouldn't think it would be an option. U can also get the 22 magnum frame size with both 22LR and 22mag cylinders for a bit more $.

22 short (photo shown just for completness, very low energy):
