Sierra 125gr Prohunter. Designed specifically for the 7.62x39 is a solid start if you hand load.

PPU, Brown Bear, Federal among others produce manufactured SP ammo.

I went with the Hornady SST ammo. Occasionally see it on sale.

I have some S&B SP ammo, but it is magnetic - I am assuming due to a copper washed steel (bi-metal?) jacket?

I no longer buy foreign made "soft point" ammo made by Tula/et. al. - just too much variance in whether it actually expands or not and whether they are consistently using the same projectile in their ammo - one batch may work fine, then another not at all - IMO.

At least with Federal, Hornady, Remington, etc., I know that their soft point ammo expands and is truly "soft".
