I've got some 700gr bullets I could send your way as well if you want to try them. At least I think I still have some unloaded, I know I've got a bunch of 660gr hollow points too.
Thanks much for the offer. Not quite there yet on reloading, but appreciate the offer. :)

Same question as original, but plot twist: .45 ACP. Your choice autoloader or revolver, though I am primarily interested in the latter.

A S&W 625 (I think) in 45 ACP is on my short list. Revolvers in auto cartridges are an addiction I have acquired.

I've really been digging the S&W 25—2 Target Model. And I've been finding myself checking Gunbroker for a 625. So, I hear ya. :s0155:

Home defense / self defense load ...
.45ACP 230 grain Speer Gold Dot Hollow Point.
( Preferred...but I wouldn't curl up in a ball and wait to die , if I didn't have it )

With that said...
I know from experience that a .45 ACP FMJ from my service pistol worked as a "man stopper".

Either loading works well with my Colt Series '70.

Get one. I did and it's a lot of fun. Weird shooting the same ammo through a 5" 1911 and a 5" revolver in the same range trip. Same terminal effect, different way to get there.

For 45acp l like the 200gr gold dot. They mushroom reliable at all velocities you can push them with a 45acp and retain almost 100% of their weight. Even at 1100fps and point blank they hold together.

Relating specifically to .45 hollow points, watching Paul Harrell's videos demonstrated to me that if one chooses 230 grain bullets, it's advisable to use a 5" barrel at minimum and only at surprisingly close ranges. The 230s had a habit of dropping below expansion velocity quickly and sometimes never even reached that point to begin with. 185s are my choice for this very reason. I'm not sure where 200s fall...
