You will want to be at the range by 8:30 for registration and to pick a spot on the line. We will start our safety brief at 9.

.22 vs. .223 is really going to depend on your goals. We are going to go through about 400 rounds. .22lr is more cost effective and allows you to focus on the fundamentals without having to deal with recoil and percussion.

On the other hand, have you put 400 intentional rounds through your AR (assumption on my part)? Do you know that it is sighted in and will function to your expectations? Are you confident in your sighting system?

There's nothing stopping you from doing both - shoot the .22 on Saturday and change over to the AR on Sunday. Totally up to you.
