Bought at Grant Boys in Costa Mesa new in 1975. The 788 Blew the drawers off of many rifles of its day in spite of its lower price, homely looks, as they were stunningly accurate. The trigger boasted the fastest lock time of any rifle at the time.
This Rifle has less than 100 rds through it, all at the range. Rifle had been in a closet from 1975 to 2003. Fired a few times and back into a safe. Action has been glass bedded by a pro riflesmith in So Cal. Grouped 80 gr. Remington factory loads in 3/8 inch at 100 yards, 100 gr. remington factory rounds 1-1 1/2 inches also at 100yds from a rest. (3 shot groups). 75 gr. Hornady Superperformance loads shot into 3/4 of an inch.
Rifle is factory original except for the glass bedding. Front and rear sights are gone, not too practical on this rifle. Rifle comes with Weaver two piece bases and the superb 'Warne' all steel, vertical split, one inch rings, made here in Oregon. There are sling studs installed. The only noticable wear is on the nine-rear-lug bolt from normal shooting. Bore is clean and bright. Rifle sold as is, and it has functioned 100% for me. Will be sold locally only, in person and transaction will be done at 'Safe Fire' Range and gunshop in Camas, Wa. Buyer pays FFL transfer fee. Cash only. (I have lots of factory ammo and my original 1970's Classic Lee Loader, Brass, new and used, new Sierra .243 (6mm) bullets, primers, IMR 4350 etc., for an additional charge if interested). (Also, a brand new Leupold Vari X III 3.5X10 Power (1 inch tube),
40 mm unused, in the box $350.00)

$475.00 for Rifle, bases and rings. 419F357D-01CE-4F7E-9DEC-16E97D688444.jpeg E105464D-2000-4E7C-98B2-CDC06A81E0B4.jpeg C5D4CD4B-F4CD-42C6-AC87-B1A8ACF20E1A.jpeg 183856AF-B3AA-42D2-864E-10F4C194AB36.jpeg E49F69DB-800D-49D8-BC76-1C96E3C2463F.jpeg
