I get the idea of burying some guns for a bad rainy day, but I can tell you from experience that it ever comes down to a civil war type situation, there will be plenty of guns floating around and on the black market.

Bury your guns under a buried power line. It messes with the metal detectors, and discourages random "treasure hunters" either by the warning signs/tape or electrocuting them!
