The easiest solution would be to just "Unwatch" the thread. It should show up in the upper right hand corner of the thread. Once "unwatched", you will not receive any e-mailed notifications.

You might be able to delete your original post and the thread along with it but in discussion forums in general it's not up to the OP to decide when discussions stop. If you dont want to get notified any more ignore the post but why would you care if anyone keeps talking about it ad infinitum?

I have no idea why people come up with original posts like " this thread is 12 years old , why do you bring it up again? " Who cares?
