9㎜ parabellum
The 9×19mm Parabellum is a firearms cartridge that was designed by Georg Luger and introduced in 1902 by the German weapons manufacturer Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) (German Weapons and Munitions Factory) for their Luger semi-automatic pistol. For this reason, it is designated as the 9mm Luger by the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute (SAAMI), and the 9 mm Luger by the Commission Internationale Permanente pour l'Epreuve des Armes à Feu Portatives (CIP).Under STANAG 4090, it is a standard cartridge for NATO forces as well as many non-NATO countries. The name Parabellum is derived from the Latin: Si vis pacem, para bellum ("If you seek peace, prepare for war"), which was the motto of DWM.According to the 2014 edition of Cartridges of the World, the 9×19mm Parabellum is "the world's most popular and widely used military handgun and submachinegun cartridge."
In addition to being used by over 60% of police in the U.S., Newsweek credits 9×19mm Parabellum pistol sales with making semiautomatic pistols more popular than revolvers. The popularity of this cartridge can be attributed to the widely held conviction that it is effective in police and self-defense use. Its low cost and wide availability contribute to the caliber's continuing popularity.

Any the event the "why" question helps, I am looking for a smaller, centerfire silencer for compact .32 ACP/7.65㎜ Browning, .380 ACP/9㎜ Corto, and compact 9㎜ Parabellum pistols. The first on the list...
So, the Ruger 77/44 has worked out beautifully and is, easily, one of the favorites now. I find myself interested in pursuing the pistol caliber bolt-action concept further. Two that are chief among them are:
A Ruger 77/357 is an easy choice. Well made, can swap the stock from plastic to...
On the way back from our hijinks in Eugene, we stopped by a Crapbellas while doing some other shopping. An interesting piece caught my eye. The Kimber Bel Air in 9ₓ19㎜ Parabellum. It is a 6+1 shot, single-action "micro", I supposed, based upon the 1911. It is a little bigger than my PPK/S...
I see there is an outfit called Velocity Arms that makes semi-automatic clones of the Mac type handguns in 9×19㎜ Parabellum and .45 ACP. I've been in communication with the manufacturer, though I am still waiting on details on some points.
Questions:
Anyone have one of these and/or experience...
So, I've been grinding through a lengthy list of vendor contacts for gun dealing purposes. One I was given dealer access to is the firm CzechPoint USA that, as one would imagine, imports Czech guns. I've used them for parts for my on more than one occasion and found them a great outfit to do...
