Cabela's - Tualatin

I had a surprisingly pleasant experience purchasing a rifle today at Cableas in Tualatin. I stopped by yesterday afternoon as I was in the area. I don't go there often the last few years, as in my experience Cabelas has gone downhill after the Bass Pro acquisition, and wasn't great even before (hit or miss service, selection). I noticed they had a rifle which has been hard to find on the shelf. Took a quick look at it (the only one of this model they had in stock), but I had to get out the door for an appointment nearby and didn't have time to give it a full inspection and potentially purchase. Asked the employee assisting if he could hold it until I could return, which he agreed to do for a day. I returned the following day, with some gift cards (purchased at a 10% discount) to complete my inspection and purchase the gun if it checked out. There were a few other people in the process of purchasing guns when I arrived, so I fully expected a long wait and some inefficient processing based on my last few gun purchases at Cabelas. To my amazement, I was walking out (got an instant approval) carrying the rifle less than an hour from arriving at the store. While I know Cabelas gun counter is not known for speedy service (which has generally been bourne out in my purchases there over the years), I was impressed with my experience today. In and out of a big box store in under an hour is pretty good these days.
