Can anyone help me figure out when this was made and what its value might be... There is no other markings other than in the picture and I can't make anything out of them....thanks
Most likely between the mid 1870s and 1880s. Very swiss in style but many gunmakers in the swiss, German and Beligian area had similar characteristics. Some gunmakers made every piece by hand, others purchased from larger factories and just assembled them. That rifle is meant to be shot standing
Great, thanks for the follow-up and the information. Much appreciated.... Thank you. For some reason it's of German origin... But it's missing the little firing device at the end of the barrel.
I don't know much about these things, but from the little bit I understand you load them from the front about 10 in back and there's a contraption on the end that actually fires the bullet., there's also a little rod that runs from the back at about the receiver area all the way up to that contraption that triggers it to fire... Or something to that effect.... super bizarre gun and I never heard anything about them...thanks
