And when enhanced with a Bic lighter the fun is unbeatable!

Years ago (when I was a billboard painter and when billboard were painted) I had to do a price change on a billboard in Mesquite, NV. It was summer time, so I decided to wait until after dark as there was light on the face. As I was climbing up the approach ladder I felt something in my hair (I thought that it was a spider web, which was common). When I started to brush it out of my hair, POW, I was stung on the back of my neck, then on the side of my head and the side of my neck. That's when I noticed that they were swarming me and I climbed down the ladder as fast as I could without falling off. They quit chasing me once I was off the billboard and about 50' away, thank God for the night.

I immediately went looking for someplace to buy wasp and hornet killer. Being night time, the only places open were casinos and convenience stores, which didn't carry what I was looking for. I was mad because I needed to get this billboard done and I wasn't about to drive back to Vegas to try to find some bug killer. I started to think of how I was going to eliminate the evil ones and get the job done, when I caught sight of a can in the back of my truck. Ah ha, now I had a plan.

I used a flashlight from the ground to find out exactly where the nest was. Luckily it was right there inside the billboard near the top of the approach ladder. I climbed up fast as I could and let them have it, they never knew what happened ….WD40 flamethrower. Killed every one of those bubblegums and didn't set the billboard on fire, mission accomplished.

Vengeance was mine.

I just stopped at a house to inquire about a Toyota motor home and noticed a bunch of yellow jackets flying in and out of the toilet roof vent.
Should be interesting when the guy opens up the RV for inspection.

They don't seem to be much of them around out in the sagebrush, just in the timber. I guess I'll drive a little further out to get some target practice in...

Yea I have seen a few but nothing like in years past. Many years ago I was bow hunting in the Ochocos and literally - we had to leave early - they were unbearable - multiple stings - it was really bad - as thick as mosquitos in season.

I have noticed an large increase as well. They were all over Mt Hood area, and have started to increase i population locally. I was at a BBQ last night and a little girl was stung.

The Hills? Just curious if that was the same family, right in the cheek... :-(

I got up early one morning and knocked down 5 yellow jacket nest and must have killed over a hundred Yellow Jackets. First thing in the morning is the best time to do it because they will not fly, I put down a tarp so I could see em and just squished all then swept them up so my dog didn't get in em.
We then decided today to clean our fish out on the lake instead of going back to the boat ramp because there was a lot of yellow jackets flyin around at the boat ramp.

I went up Lemhi pass last week and headed for the rest rooms up there. Luckily this was early in the AM. I opened the door and bees fell out on my face.
Like I said luckily it was first thing in the morning at 7000 feet and cold.
They had just fallen of the door and weren't coming after me.
So the moral of the story is after it warms up a little, kick the door and listen before you swing it open if it's a rest room that doesn't get much use

Widows and Yellowjackets love outhouses.
