Scored a refurbished Dell computer off amazon yesterday for $54! It would have been $134 but I applied for a store card with $80 gift money on it and got 'approved' and applied it to that.

Tower, Windows 10, 19" monitor, keyboard, mouse and some other stuff.

Been needing a new computer for a while and while not (and never) needing the best or fastest I have nearly always bought used and and have fortunately always had good luck. This is a first off Amazon so I hope the good luck follows!

It's on it's way and should be here in about a week.

Nice. If you ended up throwing everything away you're only out $54. Tiny risk, potentially medium to large reward.

Thats kinda what I was thinking.

I hate shopping for nearly ANYTHING and this was the first to 'pop up' when I started looking (figuring Amazon to be the easiest and most practical place to look) so I 'went for it'.

It all happened fast (about 10 minutes - including applying for the store card with the $80 on it) so I was pretty happy about that.

Kind of like when I bought the RIA off of Bi Marts web site. Quick and easy! So fast no time to think about it and possibly decide against it!

I hear you. Did same thing with Milwaukee cordless polisher this morning. $129 less than Home Depot "special buy" price. "Special buy" is about the lowest you can get at Home Depot except for in store clearance. I don't use that often but tired of fighting cords for the rare times when I polish cars.

P.s. Jericho ultra lock plus gives 1-1.5 years of incredible paint protection. Been detailing cars since the 1980's and best stuff I've ever found and I've tried probably 50-75 different waxes/polishes/sealants/protectants over the years. That she-ot is amazing. Tiny bottle will do several cars. I use on bikes and anything that needs protecting. I know it's ceramic but don't know the composition. It lasts anbout twice ans long as other siO2 sealants. Don't know why. Paint must be cleaned with a clay bar or buffer prior to using to get the shine and protection. Have never tried on metal for rust protection I wonder if it works for that? For rubber and plastic UV protection I still like 303 protectant the best.

I've been real tempted to opt for the occasional refurbished from Amazon but never have yet. 👍

I've bought an Amazon refurbished PC before.

Many of them are from corporate environments and generally in good condition. Gotta be careful because corporate PCs are usually stripped of a few things consumer grade PCs would have. And many corporate PCs are nothing more than the most basic motherboard and low end power supply. Usually not much room for upgrades

What this one says it has:

  • HP Elite 6200 Small Form Factor Desktop PC, Intel Quad Core i5-2400 up to 3.4GHz, 8G RAM DDR3, 1T, DVDRW, WiFi, Windows 10 64-Multi-Language Support English/Spanish/French (Renewed)
  • Includes: USB Keyboard & Mouse, WiFi Adapter, Microsoft office 30 days free trail.
  • Ports: USB 2.0, DisplayPort, VGA, PS/2 keyboard, PS/2 mouse, RJ-45, microphone/headphone jack, line in, line out.

At that price would be really hard to go wrong. Wife buys refurbished stuff from them now and then. She has a couple times over the years been unhappy with something and did return it for not being as they had described. They did not have any problem with her doing so. So as long as the thing boots up and runs should be fine at that price. I got an Amazon card years ago. Its Chase but is tied to them and did it for the same reason. They were always trying to get me to take one. Buying a Chromebook one day and they bumped their offer up to almost half what the thing cost to try their card. Has worked out great since we buy stuff from Amazon many times a week. When the 5% builds up we use it to buy stuff we were going to buy anyway.

Bought my current laptop off Ebay for $254 in the middle of the night (was $1800+ new), and it was only about 4 years old at the time. It's got an 8th gen i7 in it, so thinking about upgrading VERY soon and immediately downgrading it to W10Pro upon receipt.

Sounds like I need to follow your lead @RVTECH to get better deals! :D

Good luck! I've had refurbished stuff run like new, and other times I think they just put a band-aid over the problem which ended costing me more!

Good luck…you're gonna need it.

The computer I use the most is an Amazon refurbished laptop - I'm using it now. A couple of slight cosmetic flaws (and a few more I've added) and I'm pretty happy with it. I installed a larger SSD and loaded Linux Mint for a fraction of the price I would have paid new.

I hate to say it, but with those specs it's price tag is accurate. 2nd gen i5 and DDR3 RAM is pretty slow. Probably a recycled workstation but a 6th or 7th gen i5 would absolutely outperform this for just a little more money. Sorry man, not trying to pee in your pool. :D

My wife bought me a refurbished tablet from Amazon (she didn't know it was refurbished), so I didn't have to go down to the basement where my computer was every time I wanted to look something up, which I do a lot reading books a hundred years old. Finally got it up and running a week later (I'm essentially computer illiterate) after having to enter my life history and the next time I tried to use it, it wouldn't turn on. Try as I might it wouldn't turn on. After several days I asked my daughter but she couldn't get it to turn on, so I sent it back and was refunded no hassles.
I bought another that was not refurbished, and It would not allow either of my E mails to get it on line, so had to apply for a G mail I didn't want.(via a different computer)
Then, it wouldn't accept the password when trying to connect to my wifi. Again I asked my daughter, nope, wouldn't go for her either.
I give up! :s0054:
Had enough. I'm not trying again.
I guess I'm not to have a tablet. I sent it back and was refunded.
I'm back to writing in my pocket paper tablet and looking the things up later.

I and Wife have both used Amazon Fire Tablets for many years. They just work. Use one for work now as its so light and easy to carry. I can watch all the streaming services on it. If you ever want to try a cheap tablet try one of these.

I bought one off amazon couple of years ago refurbished. Works great for how lil i use it.

My thing is i do taxes for myself and a few others. Still insist on having a dedicated computer for it. Only gets plugged in to upload tax software and print off returns (no i do not efile). Dont want to worry about viruses or other crap getting loaded on it.

My decade old chromebook is used for surfing the web. Anything else I use my work computer for.

I've been using the same phone for everything for the last eight years.
When I want to go big I dongle it to my TV along with wireless mouse and keyboard.. about $30 minus the phone.
