I have winchester 94 pre 64 the barrel has the 30 wcf marking versus the 30-30 designation.. Does anyone know when they switched to stamping the barrel 30-30. Mine was produced in 1944 mostly assembled by women during world war 2 so the action is extremly tight. From what I have gleened these were some of the best fit finish rifles produced and not alot were made during this era. Any input would be insightfull.

A fine rifle. "From serials at 1,900,000...the marking is

-WINCHESTER-
-TRADE MARK-
-MADE IN U.S.A.-
-MODEL 94-30-30 WIN
-WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL- "

Source: THE WINCHESTER BOOK by George Madis. He references the 30 WCF marking as showing on guns prior to that serial number. 1952 appears to be the transition year, according to the Blue Book/serial #'s.

Hope this helps.

Thanks that does help alot!!! Mine has a serial number of 1,3xx,xxx From what I gathered from the time this one was made to 1964 another two million were produced! and that is just the pre 64!!!
