When people say Stick or Ball powder, what is that in reference to? What does that mean?
There's an advantage to "Ball" powder when it comes to measuring the charges that go into the cases when reloading. Stick powder in powder measures similar to the RCBS powder measure "crunch". So you need set the measure to drop less than desired and then use a powder trickler to get the exact amount you want.

The flake powders are kind of a pain too.

Nope! In a local store! He even posted a pic!
I didn't care one bit for that stuff. It seemed dirty to me, and crunched in the measure. W231 did everything I needed in pistol cases, and very clean. I get it though, for others. I only started loading in late 2011. I feel the same about....Bullseye. :s0131: I've got a half an lb I'd give away.

Hybrid 100V powder. 16lbs for $360 shipped.

"Similar to" is not same as. Many of the Midwest Powders are pulled from demilled ammunition and might vary significantly from the "similar to" powder mentioned. I have no personal experience with those powders, but they are certainly priced attractively and I assume people are happy with them, since they seem to sell out within minutes when available in appropriate burn rates.

When the last group pf politicians created policy that raised the price of fuel, shipping costs went up too! All that along with the war in Ukraine -- and the anti's wanting to raise the price of ammo (so fewer people could afford it) made the price of powder & primers go through the roof!
When we had the primer shortage during the Clinton years, I realized we'd have more shortages in the future and I then bought what I needed and for the future.
Powder and primers today and brass & bullets tomorrow! You may take it in the shorts now but better to pay too much now -- rather than not to have any in the future!
