The corp/gov news (99% of the 'news' you see and hear) will never show an honest, law abiding CHL holder doing the right thing and putting his life/liberty on the line to save others as a hero. Those reports are blanked out.

Private gun owners are only to be portrayed in the media as paranoid nut jobs who are incompetent, scary people to be avoided at all costs. Only the police can save you.

In this situation, if the partygoers had been forced to wait for the police to arrive and deal with the angry young man with a shotgun, how many people would be dead? Sadly, this is not considered newsworthy for that very reason – no families are mourning innocent victims today.

The mainstream media is far more interested in shootings that perpetuate the current gun hysteria, like the Mother's Day Parade shooting in New Orleans that claimed 17 lives or the spa shooter that took the lives of three people or the Sikh temple shooting during which 6 people were massacred.

They don't mention that school shootings might be prevented altogether, or at the very least, claim fewer lives, if an armed, trained individual was on site to deal with threats to our children.

They don't point out that in many of those cases, one responsible gun owner carrying concealed could have saved the lives of scores of innocent victims.

Responsible use of weapons does not promote the gun control agenda, even though responsible gun owners save lives. Only the tragedies make the news.

I have a hard time giving much credit to a site that cannot get simple facts right, or even worse, purposely mislead to promote their own agenda. 19 people were WOUNDED in NO. But yes obviously the MSM is promoting its own agendas and the agendas of its owners along with "if it bleeds it leads", these stories never make more than a quick blurp if that. Not really a news flash.

I agree with ya on this Burt. True that the news media only wants headlines that show guns as evil demented objects that should be banned from all but Gov. & LEO's. They are the ones who (they say) will provide protection to the masses... Although they soon forgot about the SCOTUS decision that LEO's are not to be relied on to save citizens from criminals (are not bound to protect and serve the communities).

Of course, there is. I never questioned the existence of a deeper and more sinister agenda. I did not invalidate the original premise. I added to it. We also have an agenda, which also helps us forget that there is more than one factor driving media bias.

I find it funny that even Lott detractors, trying to discredit Lott, have confirmed the effectiveness of defensive handgun use. They allege lotts 95% is too high and downgrade his figure to 70 to 80%, which, IMHO, a pretty darn good enough reason to support DH.
