Very interesting. With its size and the chip marks for that flat part it may be a man made grindstone of some sort? I would send pics to a university professor in archaeology. Either that or do an internet search in native grindstones and tools. It makes sense from a functional perspective. Round fits in the hand. Smaller flat part give more pressure per square inch at that spot. If the straitions on the flat part are man made that may due to rubbing back and forth on the food they were grinding.

Maybe it's for a primitive form of curling? :p
