What size flash hider?

I'm putting together the parts for a SBR AR. The barrel I've got is nice but the threaded end is a smaller diameter than all my flash hiders. Sooo, what size do I need?

If it is 223/566 it is likely 1/2x28

Otherwise you left out some details that would help us help you.

And a digital or dial caliper should reveal the outside diameter of your barrel threads if it's an unknown.

It's smaller than 1/2 inch. A 1/2" muzzle brake slides over it easily.

Did you get a steal of a deal on a threaded, pistol length barrel?

Possibly oddball, off brand?

Problem solved! The barrel measures .497. However, the flash hider measures .517, guessing it's from something I no longer own. Thanks to all the answered the post and made me measure twice.

Thread pitch gauge and a trip to the nut/bolt section of the local hardware store.

My barrel is threaded 1/2" - 28
My flash hider is threaded M13x1 LH
