Thanks, It was actually a few weeks ago, pre 594 otherwise I would have been looking 20 miles to the east.

Nice change of scenery either way. From tweekers and sirens to deer and coyotes.

Good move. When I moved away from concrete and could see farther is when I started wanting to shoot farther too. Yard projects went from costing $100 to $1000 and I had to start buying food for animals that are bigger than me.

I added Threat Level II armor to the seatbacks of my vehicles. I got used panels from concealable police soft armor vests and added it to the back of my car seats in all of my vehicles. Hanging it from the headrest posts under seat covers makes it easy to do. A little protection in the seat at all times when I can't foresee an issue and put on my serious armor is nice. See my new thread for pics.

Ate a MH meal for dinner....just because I was craving one :) Not sure how that's really prepping since I keep dipping into my freeze dried stores to cure the freeze dried fiends I get. Come on Bimart, hurry up and put them on sale again will ya!

Just got back from the goodwill a few blocks from me. I scored big time. I found a complete Northface Renegade hiking pack with no rips, all buckles and straps intact. It's a little dusty with some dirt stains that will clean right out for all for the low low price of 25$ These packs retail anywhere from 200-350$ when i did a quick google search.

Learning a lot about automotive repair and maintenance. Wasn't really interested before.

Rebuilt my carburetor, replaced my alternator and serpentine belt, patched a flat tire that had a screw in it, and now I'm working on diagnosing a bad ground in the electrical system.

Replaced the carb in my generator as well, and my brush hog. (Then stopped storing ethanol gas in those gadgets)

Can't count on mechanics always being around to save you :)

Starting my early spring garden work. Pulling up the old tomato plants, some drip tape I left down, spraying out the winter annuals, piling up blow down and generally cleaning things up. Tomorrow I will make myself light a couple of piles on fire with just the stuff out of my GHB, and sustain those piles as I burn the stuff up. About 3 hours a day of this sh*t is all I can do any more.

Pruning stuff down hard, going to rent an excavator and eliminate some of my higher maintenance shrubs, and go with some less maintenance plants. I am going to go seed my entire garden and berry's to grass, and then spray out my growing rows, and mow in between them. I am fing tired of hoeing weeds.

Hit the key on my commercial riding mower, fired up after a few cranks. Ready to go for the first mow this weekend.

I've covered my garden in cardboard to kill off all the plants/weeds in there. I'm going to go with raised beds this year, and spray a 3' perimeter outside my fenced garden with crossbow and HOPEFULLY the weeds won't take over this year like they have the last 2 years.

We're not even remotely close to needing to mow anything yet, but trimming shrubs might be a good idea.

With the rain we're having I won't be trying to burn blow down until Mid-February most likely.

Crossbow, Roundup, ( Glyphosate) are all contact herbicides. They have no residual soil activity. They will take care of existing plant growth, but not prevent weeds from growing.

You could use a preemergent herbicide that will control weeds and grass for a growing season. I like Surflan, it gives pretty good control on most of the weeds and grass, (not the real bad arse ones) lasts about 9 months and can be deactivated by cultivation. It puts a control barrier in the soil to prevent seedling emergence. Just bought 2 .5 gallons of it, ($ 160). You could probably find quart or gallon quantities at Home Depot, Lowes or a farm supply store.

Traded my truck camper (Cabover) last weekend for a Yaesu FT-990 HF radio.

It's a 20 year old radio but built like a tank! Ordered a dipole all HF frequency antenna that should be here in a week. With that I have pretty much all the communication gear I think I need.

Sometimes what I buy for my business has the added 'prep' factor and that goes for these Kenwood radios. I've had all sorts of pocket/beltclip FRS-type(?) radio over the years. The ones that all say they go a mile or '5' - blah! I am no radio expert at all. I just want to push a button and talk.

These little suckers are on a whole other level. I mean you can be in a building six blocks away and talk to a guy in a BASEMENT. Did that the other night. Made my telecom work project SO much easier.

PS - the other recent 'prep' :) Tornado is finally SBR-ing my PS90. This spring my SDN-6 will have another host.
