Rigged up a makeshift solar system on my utility trailer, added about 400w of solar plugging into it, hooked up the inverter and ran power to my bedroom AC unit, the 1kw inverter can run the unit on low given the startup and till I build a solar shade shack with bigger battery bank and inverter, this should run my window AC on low for about 6hrs a day.

A smart outlet controlling it on and off, should work out till I build the more permanent system...

Had an actual morning off today. You know the kind. Three or four whole hours where there was no honey-do list, no half-finished chore from last week, and nobody asking, "Since you're not busy…"

So last night I did the responsible thing. Folding table, folding chair, shovel, garbage bags, extra ammo, two target silhouettes, range bag checked for field repair tools, optic batteries, monocular, hearing protection, backup hearing protection, eye protection, ammo totes, more ammo, loaded magazines, rifle in the scabbard with sling, gas in the tank, coffee in hand, music playing.

I was basically one clipboard away from looking squared away.

Drove out to shoot, test the rifle, and confirm zero. Everything was peaceful. Everything was zen.

Right up until I got there and realized I had forgotten the shooting rest.

So today I successfully confirmed that I can transport a small mobile armory and still forget the one thing the trip was built around.

Yeah, done that. Took everything to the range and forgot a magazine. I still shot a few single-loading, but. o_O

Practice off-hand shooting. This is what most shooters need practice with.

Getting full - much more and I won't be able to open any of the doors. Going to have to put the remainder in the shop.

Ordered 6 gallons of Rotella for my diesel vehicles. Enough for a complete oil change for both vehicles.

$11/gal is not bad for semi-synth (T4) Rotella. If I ever see T6 on sale I will get some of that too.

Now I need to get filters.

Pickup is down to half a tank - going to fill it up when I go into town tomorrow.

Took yesterday off to get chiro/massage and let the effects of that set in. Still have some pain in my collar bone and shoulder, but feeling better now. I am going to take it easy for a few more days - the rounds I have left are huge and I want to let them dry out more so they are not so heavy. Will either split them before loading, or load them by rolling them up a ramp (maybe).

Ordered/received a bolt/nut extractor remover set that was on sale on Amazon. Slowly building up my tool collection so I have what I might need to fix stuff.

Also stocked up on motor oil. Heard some news about a possible shortage.
In the past I stocked up on 2 stroke fuel oil, bar/chain oil, diesel & gas treatment (enough to treat 2K gallons), lube oil for gasoline engines, grease and brake fluid (not sure if I have any ATF fluid). I also have some acetone, alcohol, mineral spirits/etc.

I probably should get some hydraulic fluid too - I don't personally have anything that uses it, but new neighbors who have a tractor may not know they need some, and several other neighbors have equipment that would need it. Should check to see if I have some coolant - I think I do.

I also need to get some gear lube for the trans/diffs/xfer cases in my pickup & truck. I should get belts and filters for everything too.

Maybe I should start a spreadsheet to inventory this stuff.

I was in a Dollar General store today and happened to notice a bunch of shelf stable whole milk on the shelf - IIRC the price was $1.25 per quart, which is pretty close to Winco milk prices - so I got a quart. It has a one year best by date. We'll see if it lasts that long and how it tastes (should have got several quarts to taste test now, and later - if they still have some next time I go by there (next week) - I'll get more for that purpose).
Had some with cereal this AM.

Tasted good. I am going to freeze some. AI says freezing isn't optimum because it is uht pasteurization and it may change text/etc., but as a habit I've been freezing regular milk for years (allows me to be able to buy groceries less frequently) with no issues (I shake it up before using it). Once you open it then it is like regular milk with regards to keeping fresh. If I freeze it then it should extend the shelf life of it should power go out - i.e., restart the time it is on the shelf.

Neat. Hadn't heard of it before, but read it's more common in Europe.

I buy and store canned evaporated milk. .99 cents a can (.89 on sale). It can sit on the shelf for a few years, though the best buy date is usually 1.5 years.

Pour it in a jug, add an additional can of water to fully rehydrate, and tastes just like store bought jug milk.

I'm not a powdered milk guy LOL, had too much of it growing up poor. Bleh.

I grew up on my family farm where we had a Jersey cow that gave us raw milk with cream. Then later we would have store bought milk and we would add a little condensed milk to get that creamy flavor. I never got used to 2% or "skim" milk - it just tasted like colored water to me - so I always bought whole milk.

About 10-15 years ago I learned I was lactose intolerant (solved the mystery of the gastrointestinal distress I always had) so I started buying lactose free milk and taking lactase pills for other dairy products. I only use milk for breakfast cereal, baking and the occasional cup of hot chocolate - so a half gallon lasts quite a while. I also have canned Nido, but most of it is long past its best by date now and I haven't tried it - but I should; I've heard it doesn't store well past its date.

I've been working in the garden in between rainstorms. The weeds are out of control. I had surgery on March 30, so I couldn't work out there for a month and then we had 2 rainy & cold weekends in May mixed with 2 nice weekends in which we took a rafting class and went camping. Priorities, ya know? :D So the weeds were completely out of hand. Too high to spray. So my husband attacked with the hoe and I picked up and put them in the dump trailer.

Oh, and I got a gopher yesterday.

Garlic is looking very good!

Yeah, did some weeding today myself. Long overdue.

Trying to split some more firewood, but exertion-induced hemiplegic migraine is a PITA. I.E. my vision is blocked by a large fractal like white spot, I get dizzy, out of breath, weak on one side and then a slight headache.
I did get a few rounds loaded/split/stacked - after I stopped due to the aura migraine (rested, took some excedrin) and the sun went behind the trees so the temps cooled down a bit. Knowing when to quit before pushing myself too hard is my practice now at this age - after all, I have the time to do it; no job to go to.

I should have done that work early in the morning but it was sunday and I slept in. Maybe tomorrow I will tackle it again. Doing this now before the summer temps hit hard - the big rounds are what is left - I have to split some of them before loading as they are too big/heavy for me to lift.
