Well, after a week and a bit, we finally have power again! Now the task of putting the house back to normal begins. Part of that is fixing the one part of my water system that was not pex or iron pipe. The last bit of PVC gave out in the cold due to solid water syndrome. Unfortunately no hardware stores are open now, and I really want to start cleaning stuff, so a quick fix is a must;

I am pretty sure that is how it is done. Yes, the ratchet strap is necessary, without it the "coupler" pushes out under pressure. I think it should hold long enough for me to do some dishes and maybe get the bathroom clean. Any plumbers out there who want to take bets on how long this will hold?
