Way to automatically show subcategories?

I'm not seeing it in preferences, so thought I'd ask. Is there a way to automatically show the subcategories in the list? Before the update, I got in the habit of clicking particular ones (e.g., Revolvers, Full Auto, etc.) whilst scrolling through. Now it looks like you click a drop-down menu, then select.* In no way a biggie, just thought I'd ask. Thanks.

There isn't an option, but I had a feeling some people might prefer it one way or the other
