Each has to evaluate their situation, potential threats, and what their specific needs are. Having said that, as y'all know the 642 is a constant companion. It also sleeps in an undisclosed location but well within arms reach when my head is on the pillow.

That should be sufficient to get me to either a standard capacity 9mm or the .300 Blackout pistol. And if it's not then I've seriously miscalculated my potential needs.

My brother from another mother.

My 642 (with laser grips) rests on top of my full-size M&P 9 in a hand vault I can reach without getting out of bed. I'm not a big fan of striker fired pistols with no external safety, but in this situation - I'll allow it.

My GP100 stays in the safe cuz I don't want to injure someone 2-3 houses away…
Oh c'mon man. Load it up with some Buffalo Bore using Rimrock anti-personnel bullets. For when the bad guy is hiding behind the refrigerator - in your neighbor's house. :D

Your 642 sure looks better than mine. Mine is not only a bedside gun, but it also doubles as my constant companion when I'm carrying my bow during elk season.
This has been my constant companion for the last few years. She see regular range use. Lots of home rolled as well as enough +P to keep me accurate. The .38 Special is such an easy and forgiving cartridge to load.

I have the raging judge loaded with 454 Casull. If I miss the intruder, at least we'll all be blinded and deaf long enough that we can all sneak out of the house without killing anyone...

Looks like this bedside revolver...

I am fresh out of revolvers, but my favorite nightstand revolver was a S&W 640 Centennial 1-7/8" .38 Special +P+ (That's a lot of Plusi ... )
