"The decision by the justices not to take up any of the 10 other cases shows that the court, which has a 5-4 conservative majority, remains hesitant about wading into gun rights issues."

That's unacceptable.

This this shows the fact that conservatives really aren't that pro second amendment. They are ok with guns when it fits their agenda but unwilling to loosen restrictions. Unfortunately many people don't realize it or justify it because its "their side"

Who makes up the tribunal on SCOTUS that decides what cases are heard? Thomas and Kavanaugh wrote a couple of very scathing dissents.

If Roberts, no surprise. Bush Jr. appointee, and has repeatedly demonstrated as such by bad decisions and eating crayons between sessions.

"we dont want to find these laws unconstitutional so lets not hear them"

Is the same as "sure we have carry permits, they are legal" and then never given out a carry permit for any reason.

Its just an indirect loophole for the government to ban something. "I'm Jack's complete lack of surprise"

Interesting, considering they just weighed in on gay equal rights. Burning the American flag is free speech, burning the rainbow flag is hate speech.... Total and complete BS....

Guess it'll take "a grievous incident" to get them to do their job, take up the Second Amendment issue and finally settle it... Seems if it's leftist, socialist or to destroy the moral fabric of the country theyll

Tells me there's a gross lack of spines...

To the SCOTUS, hear these Second Amendment cases, rule according to law, including the Constitution and Bill of Rights... Just Do Your Job!!!

Saw this over on calguns (they've got a good thread going on this topic):
The much likelier explanation is simple: they knew they had four votes, but didn't know if they had five. And they'd rather deny cert on gun cases until they're sure they have a fifth vote, to avoid setting bad 2A precedent.

The only way this gets solved is one more conservative on the court. Roberts is NOT a conservative. He is the worst type of RINO.

antonin scalia rest his soul said that in the future it may well be that the 2nd is put to task that is
"what it meant at the time" when it was written. meaning unless we have a packed constitutional SCOTUS
it could go horribly wrong for us. i see it as a crap but also a whewhhhhhhh

I think the idea is that SCOTUS Justices aren't Republican or Democratic, they're supposed to be impartial judges. That's hard to believe at times, but that's the goal (with Kavanaugh and Thomas being the extreme exceptions).

What a job!

Pic and choose......what to work on and when or even if to work on stuff that you just want to ignore. Rrrrrright.....just leave it for someone else. Later dude.....manana!

Aloha, Mark

The conclusion we're left with is that Chief Justice Roberts doesn't want the Court to weigh in on the Second Amendment right now, and neither the four conservative justices nor the four progressive justices were confident enough of his siding with them on the issue to risk granting certiorari in any of the ten cases.
