The story is fascinating, but the last part of the video leaves a lot out. German piston fighters were more or less at parity with allied fighters throughout the war. Quantity and quality of pilots, together with supply shortages in later phases on the German side, made the difference for the allies. The DB was a better engine, the Spitfire the better maneuvering airframe with lower wing loading. No, the Germans would have never considered building Spitfires. The Spitfire was a PITA to build in comparison to the Me-109. It was designed to fly well, to no be built easily.
