My brother and his wife live in South Florida, she works for an international shipping company out of Boca Raton
her and my brother had all their shots for Covid and the strains of Flu know in the US
THEN, she's sent to Dubai for a month - came back and gave my brother the DUBAI FLU
then she gave it to everyone at work, who gave it to everyone in Florida
now, a new strain of flue is spreading across Florida that there is no inoculation for in this country

SO - when you here about the new strain of flu sweeping the country, you can blame my brother's wife

LOL .. They are stating ..." Viruses bigger treat to children than covid ".
So if the threat of sever illness and death was almost non existent for children infected with Covid, CDC saying 0.04 percent for children 4 or younger and 0.02 percent for 5-to-17-year-olds . with 3 out 4 children estimated to have already had it .
I got to ask ?, is this 'just possibly' over exaggerated sensationalism ?
.

in Dubai or Florida
my brother tells me this new flu has decimated the local work force, his wife included
yes, you can survive the flu, but when 20% of your work force is out with the flu, or home caring for a family member with the flu, it affect productivity
and that is not exaggerated sensationalism, unless ones profession doesn't rely on a skilled work force (WALMART?)
I'm retired, but back in the day, if my work team was reduced by 20%, we would have been performance ineffective

my brother asked if we had been affected by the flu or Covid out on our property - both my neighbors did not get Covid vaccine and were hospitalized with Covid

and I have stage 2 COPD, on Prednisone, a nebulizer and an oxygen concentrator, can't get in to see a respiratory specialist in Portland or Vancouver until Feb of next year due to high count of respiratory disorders

have you checked the openings or bed count in Pulmonary units at Legacy, OHSU or Providence?

bed count may be just a number to you, but it's life or death if I get another COPD attack and can't in to see a Pulmonary specialist

NO, we were not affected - we have been isolated from society and other humans for 2 years - no closer than 20', even our neighbors

you could say the 3 of use have become antisocial isolationist

now, this is a firearm board
am I legally allowed to force a person off my property at gun point, IF they are getting within 5' of my wife or I, since they could transmit a potentially fatal respiratory disorder to us?
we have no way of knowing if a stranger is infected if they come on our property

and then you ask about FedX, Amazon, UPS, Home Depot or such?
all such vender have been advised of our medical situation with posted signs and emails and have designated drop area for our shipments
many of our neighbors have locked gates on their roads and don't even allow FedX or UPS on their property

I hate to burst your bubble, but there is no vaccine for strains of flu "know" (did you mean known?) in the US. The flu vaccine is based on the 3 or 4 most common flu strains in circulation last year (it takes that long to isolate the viruses and then produce the vaccine), and the flu virus mutates very quickly (that's why there is no lasting immunity). By the CDC's own estimation, the flu vaccine varies in effectiveness from 30% (in the best years) to 0% (in the worst years). Which 3 or 4 strains to include in the vaccine is just a guess, and may not have any relation to which strains are in circulation the following year. Getting the flu vaccine is a toss of the dice at best.

I don't have a bubble - my family and I stay isolated from society up here and Life Is Good
with my condition, my health care provider suggest I check in to an extended care faculty
luckily my son and wife are allowing me to dignity to continue to live on this property (my son's now)
I can go for walks in the woods with my Inogen, work in my garden, shoot my guns and cook my own food in our kitchen
I can sit in the woods and enjoy my wine at sunset
and one day I will die of COPD or Flu or Covid or whatever they say it is on that day
I only hope your families allow you the same dignity
and if you ask, yes, I'm on 98% oxygen from my Inogen as I type
and that's as good as life gets
