How many grams of dietary fiber are you getting a day (excluding fiber supplements)?

According to Google AI overview, Americans are averaging 10 to 15 grams a day. Most recommendations are for double or more than that.

Some people (carnivore proponents) say you don't need any. See Dr B's video below.

I have been getting about 25 to 30 grams but want to double that to 50 or 60 grams a day. I am hoping that will give me a fuller feeling after meals. That might help me cut back on calories without feeling deprived.

While there is controversy surrounding the amount and importance of fiber, everyone agrees that when increasing your daily intake, do it very slowly. Otherwise you chance some nasty upsets to your gut.

I have been taking generic beano capsules to minimize the negative effects. I am at 41 grams so far in today's count. Feeling pretty full from 8oz of lentils mixed in with ramen. Had 6oz of lentils on nachos in meal before that. Beano seems to be working so far. I might hit 50+ grams today.

This is good advice. Perhaps you have just saved someone from a poop so big it hurts.
