This was obvious to me when shooting my first red dot in the 1980s. I shoot both iron and red dots and like both but have about 25 red dots. If you use a red dot on edc gun, practice the angle of presentation a lot. It's critical to having a red dot in the window when drawing vs no dot if the angle is off.

Some red dots have a second really big circle that is outside the window (I don't mean regular circle dot reticle). That second circle can be helpful because the line of the big circle in the window helps you bring the sight back to center even if there is no dot in the window when you draw.

People "discovering" a red dot sight is similar to how people marvel when shooting a reliable mag fed semi auto shotgun. Why does it take decades for people to accept such obvious advances? Weird.

It certainly helps if the dot is right there, but people have been drawing hand guns and figuring out where their iron sites are since the very first handgun, if the dots not where you expected, just use your iron sites and almost every single time the dot will magically reappear
