I like the idea of a faster twist for the grand old cartridges. When I was having my '06 rebarreled I took advantage of a 1:9.25 Douglas blank that was available. I've not shot it much and have only used some ammo I loaded up on a Dillon, but so far the results have been positive.
Add to the faster twist with a custom chamber that has a tighter lead and better throat, and the results could be spectacular.

The results are spectacular with the 25-06... I rebarreled mine with a 7 twist and throated for the longer bullets. The advantage is as the bullets get longer they increase not just their BC but also their sectional density for deep penetration on big game.
