I've been spending a fair amount of time reading up on candidates lately, and while reading through Ted Cruz's site, I came across the Amicus Brief on DC v. Heller, which it turns out he drafted (didn't know that). Although I'd already read the Supreme Court's opinion on DC v. Heller (affirming the right to bear arms as an individual right, not a collective right), I hadn't read the Amicus Brief, and I found it quite impressive and well written. You can find it here:

https://www.tedcruz.org/wp-content/uploads/pdf/Heller_Amicus_Brief.pdf

It was so well written that I found myself thinking "if I could only get 2A opponents to read this, they'd HAVE to accept that the right to keep and bear arms is an individual right... It's just so clear!"

So, if you enjoy discussing/debating such things, this would be a great doc to quote to people, as it directly answers so many questions about the 2A and its applicability and original intent. Good stuff.

After reading that, I have no doubt where Ted Cruz stands on the issue, and its firmly rooted in a solid understanding of, and belief in, the constitution. :)

Cruz has got my vote so far.

It may feel good to have Trump give voice to my anger, but he is neither a conservative or a constitutionalist. He doesn't personally believe what he's saying, he just thinks it will get my vote. He has no plan, and his "terrific" promises are vague and pointless, just like Obama's "Hope and Change".

Agreed, although it was never that difficult to see, the curtain is being pulled back more & more. That being said, Trump is better than ANYTHING the DNC has to offer.

That is true, but I'm really hopeful he's not the nominee, I really don't want to have to cast a vote for him.

Cruz has my vote, he is the only one talking about freedom in his speeches.

I'm not looking forward to Trump but will vote for him if he is the GOP nominee. This guy is a blowhard and I think he's in over his head talking up all these promises.

Then of course you got 2 turd socialist Demorats.......promising the moon crying about pesonal wealth. Dammit, I want to be rich.....why is that bad, and why are they rich if it is?

It's going to be difficult to vote for Trump if he gets the nomination, but it's got to be done. The alternative is too much for our country to bear. We can fix whatever Trump does that we don't like, but show me where we have been able to fix anything Obama has done. All that's happened is some things are tied up in courts, waiting for one judge to go wobbly.

I kind of like the idea of the illegals and the lefties crying 'foul' for a change. They need to be concerned.

I also will vote for Trump if he is the candidate. However, I am really concerned that we are smack in the middle of a "pre-Hitler" time period. Economy bad, coming out of a war, enemies inside and out, population crying for someone to save/restore us... Scary thought!!

Underneath Trump's hair, are knuckles that resemble a Kilngon skull ridge.
What do you have against Klingons? Surely THEY would understand the importance of "fundamental right of self-defense," at least... Trump for most of his life has been a New York Liberal Democrat, and did a 180 at a neck-snapping rate with no repudiation of his prior positions to make it plausible.

Everybody who's trusted him in business has ended up getting shafted in the backdoor without lube while he's walked away from Bankruptcy Court unscathed... and I'm not going to join them in that mistake.

Well, we've trusted the political class for decades and look where that got us. We can't even get Obama impeached, which should be somewhat simple, or put Hillary in jail.

At least we can vote Trump out, that seems to be something that will be pretty easy, if he wins it's either a landslide or 50.00001% of the vote.

One thing for sure, this election is for all the marbles.

The left is openly running on Australian-style confiscation, and not just semi-autos, but all of them. Sanders will drop his tepid pro-gun stance as soon as he realizes he's not in Vermont anymore.

The other GOP candidates, other than Cruz, are so wobbly they might as well be Democrats.

Should Cruz or Trump not win the office, the next two appointments to the SCOTUS will be liberals. Kiss the 2nd Amendment goodbye when they enter the bench.

I may not trust Trump entirely, but I know damn well better than to trust any of the others. Nor am I willing to risk losing the election because I decided to withhold my vote in protest or some silly ego trip like that.

There will be an election, a new president will take office, and the administration will push a platform. We need to step up to the plate and vote.

I am through voting for lawyers.

Why's that? Shouldn't every person be evaluated individually? I guess we could just as easily say that for about any group. e.g. "I done with voting for millionaires, governors, males (shudder at the alternative this time), etc." What lawyer blew it for all other lawyers in your book? Just curious. :)

He doesn't personally believe what he's saying, he just thinks it will get my vote.
He doesn't need to believe it,his job is to make YOU believe he believes it:confused:
That's what you do when you have his money, hire the best speech writers money can buy
I'm still not sure he's not running interference for either hilardy or bernie
