Supressor mounting systems

Just got my first can, a YHM R2, looking at all the mounting options is kinda overwhelming lol, I have a few rifles I want to swap the supressor between, most I want a muzzle break on, I like the plan B mount but the cherry bomb looks useless as a muzzle break when the supressor is not on the rifle, what does everyone recommend for a mount and muzzle break that works well without the supressor on? Thanks in advance!

Ive been looking at the griffen armament "plan a" style. Flash hider stays on and its a taper mount to screw the suppressor on, similar to the plan b just a lot more options.

Dead air keymo is king. The system is a bit heavier than others and adds some length BUT there are no threads to seize, gall or damage. That alone made it my go to.

YHM QD .. it screws on and off easily. I have the HUB qd mount and birdcage flash hiders for sale. they're lightly used. both 1/2 x28 thread and 5/8 x 24 and the HUB mount that goes on your can. I haven't listed them on here yet, just hadn't gotten around to it.

We use this system - the srx direct thread one.

Nifty, might not be for everyone, works for us. Have the hubs on 4 suppressors & the correlating flash suppressors on 8 rifles/braced pistols (so far), with another dozen in a bin on my bench for when I get to them…

Do you see any advantage to the SRX system vs the QD system with the ratchet? My can came with the QD hub adapter and 1 brake, it looks kinda ugly without the can, I don't plan to hunt with a supressor often and don't like the looks of the QD mount, but I want a decent break that will host a supressor so I don't have to switch back to my normal break for hunting season.

Never used any other system, other than direct threading.

Upsides I would imagine to other systems are better flash suppression (no suppressor) & more "positive" suppressor lock down.

sRx system I'd figure doesn't have POI shifts other system might.

As tools, I don't care much what they look like. Just what functions well. Have worked well.

Overwhelming is right. Tons of options and lots of proprietary BS from manufacturers. For me I have 2 mounting systems only. It's simple, extremely lost cost compared to the alternatives, and works perfect for me.

1) direct thread (every gun and caliber except tri-lug)

2) tri-lug. For fixed barrel 9mm, 300 BLK subsonic

Have you ever had a direct thread come loose while shooting? I don't shoot rapid fire, mostly bolt actions and shooting for tiny groups so doubt I would have any issues with direct thread, other than not being easily switchable between 1/2x28 and 5/8x24 guns

I don't worry much about how the muzzle device will work without the suppressor because I never shoot without a suppressor.

I use Thunder Beast CB mounts for precision with TB cans and Key-mo with my Dead Air stuff.

1 can is permanently mounted, 9mm.
5 of my cans are thread mounted and rarely get moved between guns. 3 x .22, 1 x .30 and 1 x 9mm.
2 of cans have Dead Air Xeno mounts, primarily because they are 30 cal and I use them on a combination of .30 and .223 guns that have different threads. I have muzzle brake mounts on the guns that I will rarely shot without the can and A1 flash hider mount on guns that may get shot equally as much without a can. The semi quick attachment is not as fast as true QD, but way faster than regular threaded. I also like the variety of mounts and they cost is reasonable compared to some others. Remember, brakes a very loud.

I would make a list of the thread pitches of the barrels you want to suppress and then search to see who covers all. If you have an odd thread pitch in there, you'll be surpised at the lack of options. I ran into this issue when I picked up an AK chambered in 5.56 and wanted to run my 5.56 can on it. The AK is threaded in 24x1.5, which narrows my options down significantly. In the end, I went with Rearden hardware

If you want precision, stay away from the Dead Air Keymo system, it's good for heavy duty use and high rate of fire stuff, but gets very dirty and affects repeatability when it gets carboned up. Also the clicky type mouts will wear out, taper mounts have no moving parts to wear.

For precision Thunderbeast, Q Plan B, Griffin Plan A.
Q Plan B is the favorite here, lots of aftermarket options for muzzle devices and styles, see Rearden Mfg, Liberty Precision Machine, PWS, and several others.
