Has anyone tried the one shot systems? The pistol brace that's never attached? I haven't seen any YouTube video

I would not buy that new version. The reason is it has no brace. ATF could easily call it a stock imo. If you buy the older one it does have a brace. And we all know the current status of braces so imo it has less potential to go sideways of atf. The bubbit system is similar to the new one and it says right on bubbits that it needs atf approval or some such.

The old one works great. Can use on most any full size pistol. It looks like this. Length is adjustable. Brace shown can be replaced with other braces if desired.

Haven't seen one. Interesting.

Have a few Bubits type 1 braces. For Glocks.

Similar design, ie doesn't permanently attach.

Pretty decent. Have run Glock 19 clones (PSA Dagger), and Glock 20 well.

Would take a bit of practice to setup any of this type as carry, and be useful. So more of a range fun item ATM. However may be very worthwhile as a supplement to EDC in a vehicle. Rather than a complete firearm left in a vehicle…

My goal with the unattached brace is a super light weight (under 3 lb fully loaded) "hunting gun", in either 9mm, 10mm, or 45 acp, good for 100 yards or less. Good for thick brush or straight wall only.

I'm not skilled enough with a pistol, so this idea is a way to increase accuracy without putting in the hours and $$$ to needed to gain that skill

I am assuming because it does NOT attach permanently it is NOT a stock (or a brace) and is legal to use?

Interestingly the site does not refer to it as a brace - or stock and all the pics show it being shouldered so Its pretty obvious what the intent is.

It sure would be nice if the ATF would quit wasting so much time and money on this whole idiotic brace issue and just drop it entirely. We would have more time and space to debate other issues!

From the item description on RTG parts of the Bubits brace:

"...
Markings:
This was designed as a pistol stabilizing brace but by the time it went into production the brace concept was was regulated as illegal by the BATF. As such, the brace had an NFA style marking molded onto the side of the brace warning US citizens not to install without first registering your pistol as a SBR (see image #8).
That BATF regulation has been destroyed by numerous courts including the Supreme Court. Once again this product can serve its intended audience and be used as a quick install Pistol Stabilizing Brace..."

Where's the one linked in by the OP is marketed as a pistol rest. Not as a brace, nor stock.

Agree for carry you would need a system to carry it. One nice thing is if you have a system (Fe paracord around shoulder or whatever) the pistol uses the same holster as always. I've never messed with that kind of use but it might work.

One thing I really like it for is suppressed .22s. Accuracy goes up tremendously (as it does with centerfire pistols).

Never thought about the left in vehicle angle. I like that idea cuz you would just wear your pistol as normal but are able to turn it into a stabilized pdw Lickety split.

I don't like the current one shot model. Looks cheap and ugly like someone cut up McDonald's food tray to me. Also it is clearly a stock imo. With the old model you can say it is a brace because it is. But with the atf changes none of this may matter anyway. Who knows.

It's not a brace or a stock, and though I'm not looking up the NFA implementing law while procrastinating at work, I doubt it fits a definition of either. It's an expensive piece of plastic that can be accessorized with an overpriced sling. Great idea though.
